Week in Rewind Volume 114

Happy Sunday, friend!

It’s been a busy couple of weeks around here with holiday celebrations, end-of-the-semester activities for both Kirk and the girls, and all the extra “stuff” that seems to pop up this time of year. Between school events, shopping, and my pre-Christmas to-do list, the days have honestly kind of blurred together.

How is it possible that Christmas is only four days away?!

Even with the hectic schedule, I have managed to share a few final Christmas posts and, as always, I’m rounding up some fun ideas from a few of my friends, too.

So grab something warm and cozy, get comfy, and let’s catch up on the latest week in rewind.

Tidbits from Home

As usual, the last couple of weeks have been busy around our house. Last week, Harper had her first middle school band concert, and she did so awesome!

It’s been really fun watching her continue to learn and grow this year, and honestly, we (and our ears) are loving the saxophone way more than some of the other instruments the girls have tried over the years. (I’m looking at you, violin!)

Girls playing board games over winter break

Friday marked the end of the first semester for Kirk and the girls. Kirk has been enjoying a break from teaching and grading essays, while the girls have been fully in break mode with lots of lounging, puzzles, board games, and Christmas movies.

As for me, all of the shopping is officially done, which means it’s time to wrap everything… and if you know me, you know that is not something I look forward to. I am a terrible wrapper…extra emphasis on the terrible.

Thankfully, Kirk does most of the heavy lifting when it comes to wrapping, and I just add the name tags. I do all the shopping, though, so I feel like that evens things out, right?

Beyond wrapping, the girls and I are hoping to sneak in a little holiday baking before the big day. We’ll be staying home again this year as our little family of four, so we can enjoy Peyton’s last Christmas at home before she heads off to college.

We did this last year and loved the slower pace so much that we decided to do it again. We’ll order pizza on Christmas Eve for a cozy pizza-and-pajama movie night, then do a big brunch with monkey bread, fruit, and all our breakfast favorites, followed by ham balls and a few sides for dinner on Christmas Day.
