Your Guide to Hosting a Stress-Free Galentine’s Day Brunch

Galentine’s Day is all about celebrating friendships, and what better way to do it than by hosting an elegant girls-only brunch?

Hosting A Galentine's Day Brunch - Midwest Life and Style Blog

As a former event planner with more than a decade of experience, I’ve learned a thing or two about hosting a party. So, I’m sharing some simple tips to make your Galentine’s Day brunch stress-free and fun.

Get ready for a good time filled with laughter, delicious food, and quality moments spent with your best friends celebrating Valentine’s Day!

Setting the Table for a Galentine’s Day Brunch

I love setting a beautifully styled table—it’s one of the best parts of getting ready for any party! Whether you’re going for a specific theme or adding those extra personal touches, setting the scene for your celebration is so important.

Here are a few things to keep in mind as you create the perfect brunch table setting!

Choose a Color Palette

The first step to setting the table for a Galentine’s Day brunch is to choose a color palette for your party. Not only will this help set the tone for your party, but it will also help you seamlessly and cohesively pull together all the elements of your girls’ brunch.

I used a soft color palette, including shades of pink with accents of gold and white for my Galentine’s table setting. These hues infuse the tablescape with a feminine touch while adding a subtle note of sophistication.

If pink isn’t your color, red, lavender or burgundy are also perfect shades to incorporate into your Galentine’s Day party. Or, you can opt for a pastel color scheme of yellows, greens, and blues like the soft hues found in a bag of conversation candy hearts.

Elevate your Tablescape with Linens

When hosting a Galentine’s Day brunch, layering linens is an easy way to instantly add a touch of elegance to your table setting.

Your Guide to Hosting a Stress-Free Galentine's Day Brunch - Midwest Life and Style Blog

Neutral-colored linens like a crisp white tablecloth paired with simple fringed napkins create a clean and classic base to build upon.

What I love most about neutral linens is they don’t go out of style! Ideal for any occasion, they seamlessly complement a variety of accessories and tableware, allowing you to create a stylish setting while saving you money.

Create Layered Place Settings

When you’re hosting a Galentine’s Day brunch, give careful thought to each element of your place setting and how they complement one another.

Building layers throughout your tablescape with a mix of elements not only adds texture but also creates more visually interesting place settings.

To achieve a layered look for my Galentine’s brunch setting, I paired some white and gold charger plates with beautiful cream stoneware dishes and elegant gold silverware.

For an affordable way to introduce color and pattern, floral paper plates are an excellent choice. The pink flowers and gold-trimmed edges make them the perfect selection, seamlessly pulling the entire table’s look together.

Don’t forget about the drinkware! Champagne flutes are perfect for toasting to your girlfriends while enjoying a variety of champagne-infused cocktails.

And drinking glasses like these pink tumblers with their pretty vintage embossed design work well for iced water or a refreshing lemonade tea.

Incorporate a Personal Touch

Make your girlfriends feel extra special by adding a personal touch to each place setting. Simple things like using name cards can create a friendly and welcoming vibe.

And, of course, remember the little treats! Think about putting together a small bag filled with sweets. (These Valentine’s peanut butter cookies are a personal favorite of mine, or you can make some Valentine’s Day snack mix, too!)

Tied up with red and white craft twine and a Valentine’s Day printable, these little personal details bring a cozy and intimate feel to the gathering, making it a day to remember for everyone.

Designing a Beautiful and Budget-Friendly Brunch Centerpiece

Add charm to your Galentine’s Day brunch tablescape by creating a gorgeous and affordable centerpiece that steals the spotlight.

These 3 tips can help you easily and thoughtfully design a centerpiece for a truly unforgettable Galentine’s Day brunch.

Repurpose a Vintage Vessle into a Vase

I like to incorporate unique and unexpected items in my tablescapes whenever possible. This old stoneware soup tureen makes the perfect vase, don’t you think?

And would you believe that I found this beautiful piece for less than $10 at my local Goodwill?

Outside of stoneware, there are a variety of vintage items you can repurpose to create a beautiful and unique centerpiece.

Think about the rustic charm of mason jars or galvanized watering cans. Or, for a more classic look, incorporate antique milk glass or large glass bottles or demijohns.

Build a Beautiful Bouquet on a Budget

Pssst. Do you want to know a secret? One of my favorite places to get affordable seasonal flowers is the grocery store!

When hosting your Galentine’s Day brunch, don’t overlook the possibility of discovering a stunning mix of blooms that won’t break the bank at your nearby grocery store.

Choose 2 to 3 flowers of varying shades and sizes of blooms like lilies, carnations, and roses to complement your brunch party’s theme. And don’t forget to include greenery and fillers like eucalyptus to create texture and add shape to your flower arrangement.

Add Ambiance with Candles

Including candles is an easy way to add ambiance to any table setting.

These beautiful mercury glass votives were the perfect finishing touch to complete my simple pink and gold-themed Galentine’s Day brunch tablescape.

Planning Your Galentine’s Brunch Menu

Of course, no Galentine’s brunch hosting duties are complete without planning a spread filled with mouthwatering food and drink options.

Your Guide to Hosting a Stress-Free Galentine's Day Brunch - Midwest Life and Style Blog

Pulling together a menu and preparing multiple dishes can be challenging, but with just a bit of planning, it can be a lot easier.

Consider Your Guests’ Dietary Needs

When creating your Galentine’s brunch menu, start by considering your guests’ dietary preferences and any restrictions they might have. It’s important to ensure there’s a mix of options to cater to everyone’s tastes.

Your Guide to Hosting a Stress-Free Galentine's Day Brunch - Midwest Life and Style Blog

As you plan, calculate quantities based on your guest list to help you decide how much food to prepare and to make your grocery list.

Include a Variety of Dishes

Additionally, a well-rounded brunch menu should include a variety of both savory and sweet dishes. From egg recipes like quiches to baked goods such as muffins or coffee cakes, it’s important to strike a balance between the texture and the flavors of the foods served.

Here are a few easy recipe suggestions for your Galentine’s brunch:

Sweet Brunch Recipes

  • Blueberry Sour Cream Coffee Cake
  • Chocolate Chip Zucchini Muffins
  • Cinnamon Sugar Monkey Bread

Savory Brunch Recipes

  • Bacon Egg and Potato Bake
  • Breakfast Sausage Crescent Rolls
  • Bacon and Spinach Quiche
  • Cheesy Hash Brown Casserole
Classic Fruit Salad - Midwest Life and Style Blog

Don’t forget to include lighter options like yogurt and granola or a classic fruit salad.

And the Midwest girl in me feels obligated to remind you about proteins like bacon or sausage. (You can even swap out traditional bacon and sausage for varieties made with turkey for a more low-calorie option.)

Don’t Forget About the Drinks

Think about serving a variety of drinks that go well with your Galentine’s brunch menu. Make sure you have a mix of non-alcoholic options and some fun, themed cocktails.

Whether it’s a tasty mocktail or a special brunch-inspired beverage, having different choices adds more fun to the celebration, so everyone can enjoy a toast together.

Create a Prep List

Finally, the last thing to consider when hosting a Galentine’s Day brunch is to make a list and prep as much as you can in advance.

Your Guide to Hosting a Stress-Free Galentine's Day Brunch - Midwest Life and Style Blog

Consider recipes that can be made-ahead to reduce last-minute stress. And don’t be afraid to add a special touch to your brunch menu with a signature dish or a family-favorite recipe.

What a beautiful table that you created, Jen! First, I love your centerpiece. I wish there were a TJ near me for fresh flowers to use for decor. The lilies that you used are the perfect color for your tablescape. You totally fooled me with the floral plates. I was reading, anxiously awaiting the pattern, and was so surprised to discover that they are paper. Let’s hope that soon you can have your gal pals over for a brunch. I know I miss entertaining friends.

So pretty and cheerful. The paper plates are a great idea…I put them in my cart , I send desserts down to an elderly neighbor often and these would be so much nicer than plain old white ones! Ha! you’ve started something here, now I can’t go back. The pink glassware is nice as well.
