Cozy Winter Dinner Party

January is quickly coming to a close, which means that it’s time for a brand new month of supper club. Over the past year, the posts that make up this two-part monthly blog series have become some of my favorites to write. I hope you enjoy this series as much as my blogging friends and I do.

We’ve covered a range of holidays and seasons in the past. From tips to style a Galentine’s Day brunch to ideas for how to host a spring garden party, and just about everything in between!

We have so many fun things planned for the new year. I hope you’ll check back the last week of each month to join us. And if you need ideas for an upcoming event or would like to catch up on any of our past supper club parties, click [HERE].

5 Ways To Create A Cozy Winter Wonderland Tablescape

I don’t know what the weather is like where you live, but here in the Midwest, the temps can get downright frigid in the winter. This time of year I crave all things cozy, and I love to make our home feel warm and comforting with the addition of some simple decor staples. Even our dining room table got cozied up for the winter.

Today I’m sharing 5 simple items you can use to create a cozy winter wonderland tablescape. I promise that it’s easier than you may think. And if you like to decorate for each of the seasons, you may already have what you need right at home.

Add Texture With Fabrics

One of the ways I like to make tablescapes eye-catching and interesting is by using a variety of fabrics to add texture and color.

For this table, I drew inspiration from these deep green napkins and some plush gray mittens.

The sleek linen napkins add an elegant touch, while the soft, wool mittens give the table all of the cozy winter wonderland feels.

The mittens also make the perfect little pocket holder for my favorite gold silverware.

Here, a chunky knit blanket from my collection of throws doubles as a table runner. The blanket is a fun way to style the table with something a bit unexpected. And the creamy white color adds an extra wintry touch.

Use White Dishes

You don’t need special themed dishes to style a beautiful table.

This everyday cream stoneware set is one of my favorite place settings to use, and it has made quite a few appearances here on the blog.

What I love most about white dishes is how timeless and classic they are. A look that works well for a winter table.

Include Some Greenery

I love to use greenery in my winter decor, and my tablescape is no exception. For my cozy winter wonderful table, I used the same realistic pine garland from Afloral that I used in my Christmas tablescape.

I draped it down the center of the table and mixed in a few flocked pinecones and some twigs for a bit of added texture.

Since I reused the same garland from the holidays, I saved money and I am able to enjoy the pretty wintery greenery for just a bit longer.

Create A Simple Centerpiece

A centerpiece is always a great conversation starter, but it doesn’t have to be fancy or cost a lot of money to make.

Recently I made this DIY winter hurricane candle holder with just a bit of Epsom salt, some sprigs of greenery, and a few battery-operated candles that I already had on hand.

I love how the salt glistens like fresh snow when the light hits it just right. When I’m ready to take the centerpiece apart, I can just pour it out, to use it again later.

And because I have a soft spot for things that sparkle, I couldn’t resist adding a few mercury glass trees to the table as well.

Add A Bit Of Ambiance

To finish the table I added a bit of ambiance with a few candles.

I already mentioned how much I love these battery-operated candles. They work on a timer so I can just flip the switch and then forget about them. No need to stress about an open flame and I enjoy that I don’t have to hassle with constantly turning them off and on.

Then to give the table an extra cozy glow, I added some mercury glass votives. They tie in perfectly with my trees and the rest of the winter theme, don’t you think?
