Week in Rewind Volume 123

Happy Sunday!

School is officially in full swing here, and everyone is settling into their new routines. That means I have the house to myself during the day, fewer distractions, and a little more time to work on new things to share with you!

I’ve also been slowly getting ready for fall, and I’m excited about all the seasonal ideas and inspiration I have planned over the next few weeks. If you missed it, be sure to pop by Instagram to see my newest fall tablescape! It’s been so long since I’ve had the opportunity to style something new; I almost forgot how much joy being creative brings me.

Earlier this week, I also shared some of my favorite fall decor finds, along with a few other things you may have missed. I’m recapping it all here, so get settled in and join me for the latest week in rewind!

Tidbits from Home

New Beginnings

Kirk and Harper are getting settled into the new school year. Meanwhile, last Monday, Peyton officially started her first day of college classes. And yes, we even got a first day of school photo!

She transferred in with more than a semester’s worth of credits thanks to all the AP classes she took in high school, so she’s excited to skip over many of the first-year gen eds and get right into classes that align more with her major.

She also had her first college media day experience last week, which was so much fun. She’s continuing to rehab with the trainer at school as she works her way back from her ACL injury.

We’re praying she’ll be cleared soon and can finally get back out on the court with her teammates.

If you saw my Instagram stories last week, then you know that she also received her first care package, and just in time! I filled it with some travel essentials and a few things for a little college athlete “survival kit.”

This weekend, her team played in their first tournament of the season and went 4-0! It was fun to watch online and cheer them on from home, but we can’t wait to make the trip to Missouri for their first home matches in a couple of weeks!

We Wrote a Book!

In case you missed the announcement a few weeks ago, my friend Missy from Sonata Home Design and I shared that we’ve been quietly working together on a little project for the last several months.

We wrote an e-book!

Our book, Twinkling Lights and Festive Bites, is filled with over 50 pages of everything we love about the season. From cozy decorating ideas and easy entertaining tips to our favorite holiday recipes.

We’ll be sharing more in the coming weeks, but in the meantime, we wanted you to be the first to know…and the first to get in on a few perks before anyone else!

And, as an added perk for joining our pre-sale mailing list, we’re throwing in an exclusive 10% discount code to use when the book launches, plus our FREE downloadable 8-Week Countdown to Christmas PDF checklist, just for signing up.

We can’t wait to share this with you soon!

Early Fall Favorites

Whether you’re full steam ahead with digging out your decor bins, or gently easing into the season ahead, here are a few of my favorite early fall decor finds.

Fall decor essentials including decorative pears, pumpkins, plaid throw blanket, magnolia wreath, woven boxes, brass lanterns, and an acorn branch.
Six fall wreath ideas featuring autumn leaves, pumpkins, berries, magnolia leaves, hydrangeas, and seasonal greenery.

  • I’m in love with the new Hearth & Hand fall line from Target and snagged these to add to my fall dishes.
  • I use this glass cloche all year long, but I especially enjoy styling it for my fall vignettes.
  • These have been the perfect addition to our dining room buffet.
  • I’m still loving this foundation and this primer that I purchased two months ago, and I’ve gotten so many compliments on my makeup since I started using them!
  • These would be so pretty for fall in your living room, bedroom, or anywhere you want to add a little seasonal color and pattern.
  • I use this all the time around our house. It’s seriously one of the best cleaners I’ve ever used!
  • I also snagged these from the new fall Better Homes & Gardens line from Walmart and can’t wait to use them all season long for entertaining.
  • We got this for Peyton’s dorm and love it so much; I’m seriously considering one for her bedroom that I’m slowly transitioning to my home office.

The temps definitely still feel like summer in the Midwest, but it’s feeling like fall on here on the blog. Over the last few weeks, I’ve shared several of my favorite posts to help you welcome the season into your home.

If you’re ready to start decorating, I shared 7 easy tips to help you transition your decor from summer to fall without busting out the pumpkins just yet.

I also shared some inspiration for decorating a small front porch for fall, with simple ideas for adding seasonal touches and making the most of the space you have.

And if you have a bit of a brown thumb like I do, and are tired of crunchy mums by the end of September, these DIY stacked pumpkin topiaries are such an easy project. They require zero watering, and you can pull them out and use them again year after year.

Lastly, if you’re looking for the perfect cozy cocktail that tastes like fall in a cup, this caramel apple cider sangria is just the recipe you’ve been looking for. It’s perfect for a night curled up on the couch with your favorite show, serving friends and family at a fall dinner party, or sipping during a Saturday football tailgate!
