Fall Yard Clean Up with RYOBI

Tackling yard work can be a big job. That’s why I’m excited to partner with RYOBI this fall to share a variety of outdoor tools that will help make your fall yard clean up projects that much easier. RYOBI was kind enough to send me some of the latest tools from their 40-Volt Lithium family, including the VAC ATTACK leaf mulcher, 10′ pole saw, and one special surprise that you’ll have to wait until the end of the post to see. From trimmers to chains saws and even lawnmowers. RYOBI has all of your outdoor tool needs covered. You can visit RYOBI’s website to learn more and to see all of the 40-Volt tools.

The VAC ATTACK Leaf Mulcher

When it comes to fall yard clean up, and winterizing your lawn, there are several things to add to your checklist. Cleaning out flower beds, pruning overgrown shrubs, and, of course, picking up all of those leaves. Left unattended, large piles of leaves can suffocate the grass and even lead to unwanted pests! But raking can be back-breaking work. My advice? Skip the rake and save your back this fall with RYOBI’s 40-Volt VAC ATTACK. Trust me when I say this outdoor tool is a GAME CHANGER!

The VAC ATTACK leaf mulcher comes with everything you see here, and thanks to an assist from my handy hubby, I was able to put it together in just a matter of minutes.

Safety First

Always make sure to read the user’s manual and follow all of the suggested safety guidelines before using any RYOBI tool. Here are a few key tips to keep in mind to help you stay safe.

  • Wear safety glasses with side shields.
  • Wear gloves, long sleeves, long pants, and closed-toe shoes. (Sturdy work boots are best.)
  • Keep long hair pulled back and away from tools, and avoid loose clothing or jewelry.
  • Follow the instruction manual on where and how to properly hold the tool.
  • Keep all bystanders, children, and pets at least 50 feet away while the tools are in use.

Using the VAC ATTACK Leaf Mulcher

We have a big beautiful red maple tree in our front yard. But, this big, beautiful tree also makes a BIG mess. Just look at all of those leaves!

Thank goodness for the VAC ATTACK. The cordless leaf vacuum features dual vacuum and mulching functions. It also has adjustable wheels which made it easy to maneuver around the yard.

It easily sucked up all of the leaves in our yard and mulched them down into the attached heavy-duty bag.

When the bag was full, I just unzipped it and emptied all of the mulched leaves into a lawn bag. Aside from being easy to use, the mulching feature is my favorite thing about the VAC ATTACK tool.

Not only did it cut down on the amount of lawn and leaf waste we produced, but it also created “leaf litter” which can be sprinkled around my shrubs and rose bushes to help insulate them throughout the long winter months.

Tree Trimming Made Easy

After a busy fall, I’m embarrassed to say this is what the shrubs in our back yard looked like. Overgrown, unruly, and just plain messy. (Sorry neighbors!)

Trimming these shrubs in the past has been a challenge. Between their height, and the fence directly behind them, it was always a two-person job that required a ladder.

But not with RYOBI’s 40-Volt 10′ Pole Saw. The pole extends up to 9.5′ and made trimming the shrubs quick and easy, even for someone who is vertically challenged, like me.

The angled head of the pole saw provides for more cutting control. And since it uses the same 40-Volt battery as the leaf mulcher the batteries can be interchangeable for larger jobs if needed.

Let It Snow

Now that all of the fall yard work is done, we’re ready for anything the Midwest winter can dish out, thanks to the RYOBI 40-Volt 21″ Snow Blower.

In Nebraska, it’s not out of the ordinary to have measurable snowfall as early as October. And while we haven’t had much in the way of the white stuff yet, I am beyond excited to take this for a test drive. (And so is Mr. MWLS!)

Getting ready for Winter - Midwest Life and Style Blog

We’ve been dreaming of buying a snowblower for several years, but I was always nervous about where and how to store one. With a small, two-car garage and no shed, storage at our house is at a premium. One of my favorite features of the RYOBI snowblower is that it folds up for easy storage.

The snowblower also comes with two 5.0AH batteries and a charger. It delivers gas-like power (without all of the hassle of buying gas) and can throw snow up to 35 ft. away. The push start button makes it easy to get started, and there is an LED headlight to help with visibility.

It’s all ready to go….now it just needs to snow! This snowblower is a great addition to our RYOBI outdoor tool collection, and I know it will get a lot of use soon.
