For those who may be new, thank you for stopping by, and welcome to Midwest Life and Style! My name is Jen. I am a wife, a mom of two, and an event planner by day, turned DIYer by night.

From simple DIY projects to home styling tips and more, my goal is to inspire you by showing you that you do not need to spend a lot of money to create a beautiful and inviting home.
Hosting A Cinco de Mayo Fiesta
This month the ladies of supper club are feeling festive and sharing tips and ideas for hosting a Cinco de Mayo fiesta. If this is your first time joining us, be sure to catch up and check out last month’s spring tables and menu here.
Today, we are each sharing different ideas for styling a Cinco de Mayo tablescape. And if you love Mexican food, be sure to check out our fiesta-inspired menu with five brand-new Mexican dishes to add to your recipe collection, including my frozen pineapple margarita.
Let’s Fiesta!
We have been blessed to visit Mexico several times over the years. I love the weather, the culture, and of course, the food! So today, I am excited to bring a little bit of Mexico to Nebraska (and to you!) with my Cinco de Mayo tablescape.
To help set the mood, I draped a white papel picado on my vintage window above the buffet. It is not as colorful as the punched paper banners that you see swaying in the wind above the cobblestone streets of Sayulita. But it still reminds me of all of the fun family memories we have made there.
You might recognize many pieces of the table setting from my recent spring garden tablescape, including my favorite white dishes and wicker charger plates.
Once I had my neutral base, it was time to have some fun with colors and patterns. When I think of Mexico, I think of bright, vibrant pottery. So I also added some blue and white ceramic bowls and terra cotta plates. The bowls combined with the tassel placemats add just the perfect pop of color to the place setting.
To complete the place setting, I used some pink glass tumblers. Then I tucked a sprig of purple flowers into each napkin ring. The addition of the flowers was a simple and cost-effective way to make the setting look pretty and polished.
Creating The Centerpiece
Did I mention how much I love Mexican food?
It’s not a Cinco de Mayo fiesta until there are chips and salsa. (Or at least that is what I am telling myself.) And because food is the most important part of any party, I decided to incorporate it right into my centerpiece!
To create my centerpiece, I started with a burlap table runner. Then I used an old breadboard as a serving tray and added a giant bowl of tortilla chips with fresh pico de gallo and corn salsa.
Voila! A colorful (and edible!) centerpiece.
Next I added some succulents and Spanish moss to a few terra cotta pots.
Then, to add a little more punch of color, I also mixed in some fresh flowers in shades of yellow and purple. Aren’t the ranunculus gorgeous? The colors are so vibrant and exactly what I think of when I think about hosting a Cinco de Mayo fiesta!
The flowers were so eye catching. I think half of my camera roll was filled with images similar to this.
And aren’t these baby succulents just the cutest? They were the perfect size for my mini pots and made for a unique addition to each place setting.
They would make a great party favor. Or you could write your guests’ names on the pots with a chalk marker for a fun and unexpected place card.
Hosting A Cinco de Mayo Fiesta
Thank you for stopping by! I hope you enjoyed seeing how I styled my table as much as I enjoyed creating it. Perhaps you will even feel inspired to create your own Cinco de Mayo tablescape.

The floral arrangements are truly beautiful! I’m dying for some salsa right now!
midwestlifeandstyle says
Thank you, Shawna. It took everything I had to stay out of the pico until I was done photographing the table. Needless to say, it didn’t last long once I was finished.
