Week in Rewind Volume 106

Wow… I had to look, and it’s hard to believe it’s been nearly six months since I last shared one of these recaps.

I wish I had a good excuse, but the truth is, we’ve just been in that busy season of life.

I’ve missed having a spot to share the little things that don’t always make it into a full blog post. The everyday stuff, the messy bits, and the behind-the-scenes moments that make life what it is.

It always felt like such a fun way to connect with you, almost like sitting down over coffee and catching up, and I’m really excited to bring them back.

Today I’m sharing a peek at what’s been going on over the last six months, plus a roundup of my latest posts and some fun fall inspiration from a few friends.

So, grab a cozy drink and let’s catch up!

Tidbits from Home

The last time I wrote one of these, we had just flown back from a club volleyball tournament in Louisville.

Since then, we’ve put thousands of miles on our family SUV with trips to Salt Lake City, and Kansas City several times (among other stops).

My mom even made the 14-hour trip with us to Salt Lake City, and I was more than happy to have the company and an extra set of hands to help with the drive.

…and finally Dallas at the end of June to wrap up the club season. It was a long stretch of travel and by the time we finished, we were definitely ready for a break.

In between, we had a fun track season and squeezed in several college visits, too.

The biggest news from the past six months is that after a long and sometimes grueling recruitment process, Peyton found her home at the end of June and committed to play college volleyball at Division II Missouri S&T in Rolla, Missouri.

The campus is beautiful, the academics and facilities are excellent, and we really love her coach. Peyton is both excited and relieved to be done with the process, and we are so happy for her and can’t wait to cheer her on next fall!

In mid-June, Peyton, Harper, my mom, and I made another trip back so she could attend camp and meet some of her future teammates. It turned into a fun girls’ weekend. We explored more of the campus and the town of Rolla, and of course, picked up some swag for future volleyball games.

In June, Harper had her mini dance recital and performed a hip hop routine. She loves all things dance and musical theatre, so it’s always fun to see her get a chance to shine.

Just a few weeks earlier, she also celebrated some “lasts,” including her final elementary concert and her last day at our elementary school.

After having one of our girls there for the last twelve years, it felt so strange not to go back this fall.

A Season of Lasts and Firsts

This school year has been an emotional mix of firsts and lasts for us. Peyton is a senior (still wrapping my head around that one), while Harper started 6th grade and is somehow already nearly as tall as me.

With Peyton, we are soaking up all the senior moments. Her last first day of school, her last first home volleyball game, senior photos, and even family pictures. Volleyball season is off to such a fun start.

The team is 7–1, which already feels like a big turnaround after last year, when they only won 10 games. She even had a career-high night and helped beat their cross-town rival for the first time in her high school career.

Harper was nervous to start at a new school, but she’s settled in and has joined the band, choir, and student council. And she’s back to dancing two nights a week with jazz, hip hop, and acro classes. She’s already counting down to her first band concert next month. Meanwhile, we are counting down to volleyball senior night in just a few weeks.

I just snagged this spooky, and cute doormat to decorate our front porch.

This is one of my new favorite cozy fall staples. It comes in several colors, and I love it so much I might grab another.

I grabbed this for our recent family photos, and I’m so in love. It’s comfy, flowy, and fits true to size.

These fun game day fashion finds are perfect for tailgating or cheering on your favorite team this season.

This stunning wreath is in my shopping cart right now, and I can already picture it on a front door or layered over a mirror or mantel.

Football season is here, the evenings are cooler, and it finally feels like fall. Which means it’s fall here on the blog too.

I shared a roundup with 20+ recipes that are perfect for game day snacking. There are appetizers like this bacon and jalapeño popper cheese ball, and one of our family favorites, crockpot BBQ meatballs.

If you’d rather cheer on your team from home than in the parking lot of the stadium, I also included some tips for hosting a backyard tailgate.

And, to make it even easier, I shared a set of free football party printables, too.

In our house, football season also means chili season. This shredded beef chili is a fun twist on the usual ground beef version, and it’s sooooo good.

There is nothing better than a cool Saturday, a game on TV, and a big pot of chili simmering on the stove.
