Week In Rewind Volume 66

Happy Sunday, friends!

A busier-than-normal schedule combined with some unexpected life happenings meant blogging took a back seat this week.

So, instead of new posts, I’m sharing some of my favorites from seasons past. And, as always, I’ve also rounded up some inspiring DIYs, decor, and delicious recipes from a few of my friends.

So get cozy, settle in, and join me for the latest week in rewind!

Tidbits From Home

This week was a rollercoaster of emotions with some amazing highs and some not-so-fun lows.

First, the lows…

Late last Saturday, one of my grandmothers passed away. While not completely surprising, her passing still seemed sudden. And in that moment, I was reminded of the many grandparent funerals we will face in the coming years.

My grandmother’s passing last weekend was followed on Monday by the earth-shattering news of my dad’s cancer diagnosis. Somehow, I naively thought my family was immune from the effects of this devastating disease. And yet, here we are.

If there is a silver lining, my dad’s initial prognosis is good, and his cancer is very treatable. But I’d be lying if I said I haven’t let those worst-case scenarios creep into my thoughts every now and then.

If you believe in the power of prayer, I would appreciate any you can say for my parents as they navigate this diagnosis and my dad’s impending treatment.

And now…let’s end on some highs!

We had an exciting week of volleyball, with high school matches on both Tuesday and Thursday night.

Then, on Wednesday, we joined over 90,000+ friends to watch an outdoor volleyball match at Nebraska’s Memorial Stadium.

The atmosphere was amazing, and we couldn’t have asked for a better night, weather-wise.

My mom, sister, and her family joined us, too!

The match not only set an NCAA record for attendance at a women’s sporting event, but it set a world record for the most people to watch a women’s game for any sport…ever!

It was pretty cool to experience, and now we can say we were part of sports history.

I am so sorry about the loss of your grandmother and your dad‘s cancer diagnosis. That is a lot! I definitely believe in the power of prayer, and I will be praying for you and your family. If you feel comfortable giving your dad‘s first name, that would be great. if not, God knows who he is. I hope this week is a little calmer for you. I will be praying for you!

      Susan,

Thank you so much for your kind message. It was the first thing I read this morning and I was so touched. Your thoughts and prayers are more than welcomed. I’m sure my dad, Rick, will appreciate it. I know I do.❤
