5 Minute Simple Summer Centerpiece
I can’t believe that the 4th of July is less than two weeks away. Summer feels like it is flying by, doesn’t it?
Today I am going to share with you how to make a 5 minute simple centerpiece for summer.
And I do mean simple!
If you don’t have time to tackle a DIY or don’t feel like being crafty, then this post is one that I know you will enjoy.
But before I jump into the details, I want to say a quick hello and welcome to my blog. I am excited to join a few friends to share some summer ideas and inspiration with you.

How To Make A Simple Summer Centerpiece In 5 Minutes
1 . Find A Crate
It is the obvious first step, but I want to share a bit about it, and here is why.
When it comes to your home, I am a firm believer that you should do what YOU love. Curating a comfortable and cozy home that makes your heart happy is more important than any trend.
For me, that’s finding creative ways to blend new decor with one-of-a-kind vintage pieces like this wood crate.
Several years ago, I found it tucked away in an old run-down outbuilding on my grandparent’s farm. It holds extra sentimental value, so I knew it would be the perfect piece to use for this project.
But you don’t need something old (or even a wood crate) to make a centerpiece like this for your table.
If you love the look of the old crate, but don’t have one this set of weathered wood boxes is a good alternative.
If not, anything that can hold a potted plant will work. Just get creative! Shop your home for things that you may already have on hand. You might be surprised at what you find.
2. Pick Out A Plant
Once you have decided on a base for your centerpiece, take some quick measurements. This will help make sure you don’t pick out a plant this is too large or too small for your container.
This summer, I used patriotic touches to style our home. So when it came time to choose a potted plant for my centerpiece I immediately knew what I would choose.
This red geranium ties in perfectly with the rest of my dining room decor. And it complements the DIY red, white, and blue door basket hanging on our front porch.
You can use red geraniums too or you pick a different color or flower entirely. There’s really no wrong choice.
To save time, keep your plant in its plastic pot. Then, when you are ready to change things up, you can easily remove it to create a new centerpiece. Or use your crate for a whole new project.
If you are going to display your centerpiece inside, you will want to protect your furniture from water. To do this, place a plant saucer underneath your pot before you add it to your crate.
If you are in a pinch, you can also use a disposable pie tie, as I did here. They are cheap, easy to find, and help to keep water from seeping through the bottom of the pot and onto the table.
Then nestle the flower pot in the crate, and just like that you have a simple and beautiful summer centerpiece.
3. Finish With Some Flags
If you want to add a little something extra, these mini flags are an easy way to give your centerpiece a patriotic touch.
They are so affordable. I love to use them to decorate with in the summertime.
And the flags can easily be changed out for those friends who live outside of the US, too.
That’s it! As always, thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope you enjoyed this quick and easy 5 minute centerpiece idea for summer.
